Screencast-O-Matic

I've created video lessons before for my classes, but for some reason doing this one made me nervous. That is probably because I am putting it in a blog for my peers to view. It is not error proof and Macky came on over the loud speaker as I was recoding. This threw me off a bit, but that is all part of the learning process. Prior lessons that I have recorded were using SMART recorder. It has been difficult because the cursor is not an arrow in that format. I like that screencast changes the cursor to an arrow for the video. I'm not sure how I feel about the yellow circle around the arrow. I tend to use the cursor to draw attention to things, but the bright yellow circle seems to be a distraction. I'll have to get used to it and adjust my style. Overall, I like the screencast. I almost like having the 15 minute time limit, as of right now, because any more than that causes students to get board. I think it is the perfect amount of time. I can see myself using this software in the future, instead of SMART recorder because I can provide the link to the substitute, rather than having them log-in to my computer with my log-in information. I also like it because I can direct students to the videos online if they were absent. In my ideal world, I would get the opportunity to implement the reverse classroom and use the software all the time. Maybe someday. Anyway... here is the video.
