Wiki Experience

I like using google docs. I just haven't really gotten to to the point where I use them. I think this is because I find it difficult to have things saved in so many different places: at home, the H: drive, the U: drive, and in google docs. However, I could look at google docs as a way to consolidate the documents I have saved and I can access them online, from anywhere. The same can be said for remotely accessing the H: and U: drives, however. I don't see myself changing where I save documents any time soon for this reason. It would just be too much to move around and sometimes the formats change.

One thing I learned through this activity was the idea of collections. Prior to learning this, I did not like the way that all the documents that either I owned or that were shared with me were in long lists. Now I know that I can organize them into collections to manage them and access them easily.

I think the math department could utilize google spreadsheets more often. We always have use spread sheets to check in books or to make recommendation lists. Too often, people attempt to access them at the same time, so they have to open "read-only" documents. They cannot save any changes this way. However, if we use google spreadsheets, any number of people can have them open and be editing at the same time. I guess this is something we could talk about and consider trying.

Something I want more help with is google forms. I tried to create one of these, but I do not know what happens to it when it is saved. When I tried to open it again, it only opened the spread sheet for data collection. I am confused and could use some help. I think forms could be used in the classroom to survey students or for informal assessments.
